Sand Mould for Orbital Welding
Aluminium welding is the chemical reaction process, which called casting welding method. To get the rail ends prepared which fixed by sand mould in advance, mixture of aluminum powder and iron oxide (called aluminum heat agent) is placed in the crucible, so that the reduction exothermic reaction occurs, becoming liquid metal (iron) and slag (mainly Al2O3), which is injected into the mould.
The liquid metal flows into the welding gaps get the welding metal, and the slag floats on the surface. In order to adjust the temperature of the melt and the chemical composition of the weld metal, the right amount of additives and alloys are often added to the aluminum welding powder. Aluminum heat welding has the characteristics of simple equipment, easy to use, does not require a power, commonly used in the welding of rails ( incl.railway, subway, crane rails, tramway), steel and other large cross-sectional work pieces.
